Bdays & Good Times

Jonah had his bday on Sunday.  That night we had dinner with all our family in town.  Jonah requested Papa Murphys and Key Lime pie.  We complied.  On Monday he and I went out on a date.  We went shopping and then out to lunch, then to the movies.  He bought a cell phone!  He's pretty excited about that.  He is 14 now!
Celeste turned 15 on Tuesday.  She got to skip school and we went shopping and out to lunch and to the movies too.  That night we had her choice for dinner:  Greek Salad and Razzleberry pie.
We have Young Mens and Young Womens each Tuesday night, so that night all the youth sang to Celeste and Jonah.
This is Eden in her normal form these days...on her cell phone.  Sigh.
We had Kid Camp again today.  The kids had a blast!

Kid Camp

We had an extra 11 children over here today.  Eden is doing a "Kid Camp" service project in order to help earn herself the Young Womanhood Recognition Award.  She invited children over from the neighborhood to come eat, make crafts and play.  She'll be doing it for the next few more Saturdays.  It was WILD here, but we had a good time!

Poop

I'm gonna talk about poop for a bit.  Because that is what moms do.
Weirdest thing.  Our little Samuel is trying to potty train himself.  I HATE potty training!  And truth be told, I am not anxious to be done with babies.  With Sam being my last, I am ok with him being in diapers until he's 9.  It would kind of be a way for me to keep him my baby.  Ok, that's a bit of an exaggeration.  But I had decided I was not going to attempt to potty train this boy until he was 3. (He's currently 2 years and 5 months old.)  Celeste wanted to do it not too long ago, so I let her make a go of it.  She quit quickly.  It is no fun people!
Anyhow, in the last week, Sam has started to try and potty train himself.  On his own, when my back has been turned, he has gone into one of our bathrooms and taken a poop on the potty, all by himself.  The first time I discovered what looked like a horror movie.  Poop was everywhere!  He had a runny one, and although about half of his poop made it in the toilet, the other half did not.  And then he proceeded to use all kinds of disgusting, non-traditional methods to wipe it off his butt.  Like the wall, and everything else in the bathroom.  I was gagging as I sanitized that room from top to bottom.
The second time it happened, he made almost all the poop in the toilet and then came to tell me about it.  He was proud of himself.  And last night, it was almost entirely a normal toilet episode.  All on his own.  This kid is unlike any other potty trainer we've had.  I don't know what to do with him.  It's strange; you've got a mom who doesn't want her toddler to be potty trained yet, and a toddler who wants it enough to do it on his own.

BYU Mens Bball

This photo features the fans behind us as much as it features my cute little guy.
All of us went to the BYU Mens BBall game last night.  It was against San Francisco and was a great game!  They were neck and neck the entire time, but BYU came out on top in the end.
Sam konked out at the end.

My awesome man

Steve turned 43 on Friday!  He looks better now than when I met him 16 years ago.  He is such a fantastic husband and father and human.  I ADORE this man!  To celebrate, we got someone to stay the night with our kids and we went out to dinner, then to a comedy show, then to an art museum.  We stayed the night at a local Springhill Suites.  We slept in without Sam waking us up at the crack of dawn crying for a "poopie change", we went and ate a yummy breakfast, then worked out.  It was awesome.
Yesterday Steve was a manly man and fixed our car that we thought was in respite care, about to die forever.   It runs great now!  He is amazing!  See all the manly grime on his hands?  I love it.  I love him.

Smarties

Eden went to the District Science Fair this week at UVU.  She didn't win, but we were still proud of her.  And Celeste got her ACT prep test results back.  Look at those scores.  She is a smarty pants, I tell ya.

Uncles

Steve's Dad (2nd from the right,) with his brothers.  I love the contrast in fashion styles displayed here.
