Kayaking

This is just our very favorite Family Fun Day activity. It never disappoints.

Stretching

I walked in on this cute scene. Hana was leading the babies in some stretches. She is so good with those littles! And she is also getting quite flexible. Her dancing is improving!

New Car

We bought a new car today! It's pretty exciting. We had 3, (almost 4 licensed drivers,) and one cute little Honda Fit and one gargantuous 12 passenger Ghetto van. So this will be very helpful. It's a 2016 Honda Civic.

Andy's track meet

Andy had his first ever track meet yesterday. We were worried about having him compete because he is dealing with an ankle injury. So his coach decided to only have him do three of the events instead of more that he was going to have him do. And despite the pain, he did awesome!
He got 1st place in the 100 meter, 1st place in the 400 meter, and 2nd place in the high jump. His coach said he was the fastest 7th grader there, among the three schools. :)

Cessie turns 17

Yesterday Cessie turned 17. She said it was her best birthday ever, so that was good! She and I went to Flix Brewhouse and had lunch while we watched Star Wars. We went shopping to get her some gardening supplies and plants that she really wanted. (I know, she's easy.) And in the evening we had her dinner choice, Greek Salad and cheesecake. She is such a great girl. She spent several hours planting because she was so excited to get started on her garden.

Jonah turns 16

Jonah had his birthday on Tuesday. It was a nice day. He and I went to get him some roller blades, we went to this music store in Austin, and we went to Radio Shack to get him a mini-portable speaker that he could clip onto his pants. He likes to go on walks, (and now rollerblade,) and wanted to have music play while he did so. He went out to give the blades and speaker a shot and enjoyed it. He and I also went out for lunch at Jason's Deli.
That evening we had pizza and cherry pie, per his choice.

Just a few little things

Charity brought this cute thing home from school the other day.
We are in love with this Winter!!!
This meme made me laugh because I feel like Steve does this to me when I am trying to fall asleep at night.

Valentines Weekend

On Saturday evening we had Natalie come stay the night with the kids. She is another teacher at the studio. She is 22, teaches Becca & Hana's Jazz class, and is a total sweetheart.
Steve and I went downtown into Austin. After checking into the Marriot, we walked around and found a lovely place for dinner. After dinner, we walked to the Theater. It was a very nice Winter evening. We saw Ballet Austin do their "Director's Choice." It was amazing!!! They were way better than I thought they were going to be. The choreography was so brilliant! I cried.
Afterwards I was able to go to a Q&A with the Artistic Director/Choreographer, and a couple of the dancers. I am currently starting to work on creating an original dance production for Ars Avenue. I am really excited about it. This got me even more excited and inspired. I want to choreograph something extra special.
The next day we ate. A lot! And we did a lot of nature walking. We went through the Botanical Gardens, and up Mount Bonnell, and also around the beautiful grounds of the Contemporary. It was so nice!
When we got home to the kids, they were all happy and well. And Charity and Sam were begging and pleading for Natalie to stay forever. So it seems she did a great job.

Cessie Driving

On Thursday Feb 11th, Cessie got her license! It's been a long time coming, but she got it, and I think she was ready. She did driver's training in Utah and was still a pretty scary driver. So we had her do drivers training again when we moved to Texas to better prepare her. She is not too bad now. I actually think her biggest problem is likely driving too cautiously and slowly. She says she didn't do well on her test because she was so nervous. But she managed to scrape by.
Now if we would have another car, this would be a lot more helpful.

Steve's birthday

Yesterday Steve turned 45. We had a nice bday weekend. On Saturday we took the kids to dinner and a movie and he and I went to lunch at the Oasis, which was so beautiful! He and I also went to the Contemporary in Austin. It's an art museum. We didn't go inside, but walked around their beautiful grounds. They had pretty grounds and water front and art pieces scattered throughout. To make it even nicer, it was the perfect weather! Steve said it was his first birthday he's ever had in nice, warm weather. The only exception was when he was on his mission in California. But he said those birthdays were not memorable. In fact he cannot remember them entirely.
Eden was sweet and really worked hard to make him feel special. She worked to earn money to buy him some headphones. She also planned out a special breakfast for him. She got the groceries and recipes. She did the prep work late into the night the night before his birthday. On the morning of his birthday she cooked him up a Spanish omelette, chocolate covered strawberries, salsa, and angel cake with strawberries and cream. She made this meal from scratch by herself! We were so impressed!
I just want to take this moment to express some things about Steve. He is such a wonderful husband and father. I love how smart and good he is. I appreciate how hard working he is. He has always provided for our family well. He has always been respectful and kind and patient with me. He has always supported me in whatever I have wanted to do and believed in me. He is the best! I am so thankful to be his wife and for the life he has given me and the kids. I love him. I am still in love, like the exciting, euphoric kind. And I like him a lot too. He is just awesome.
