Andy's game

Andy is playing basketball with at a couple of places these days.  One of them is a fun little Summer league through our city's rec center.  Today they had their first game.  He was the power house of his team this game.  We were proud.

Kayaking June 2015 part 2

"Best Family Fun Day ever!" - said everyone

Today was the best!  We have been wanting to take the kids to do this activity since Steve and I did it back in April.  It did not disappoint.  We kayaked Barton Creek and the Colorado River.

Getting ready to take off.

A selfie to prove I was there.

Jonah and Eden actually jumped in the river and swam.  (Although I did not get a photo of Eden doing it.)

Enjoying watching the wildlife.

Jonah deciding he would swim all the way back to the boat rental.

It was all fun and games until we spotted a dead fish floating near him.  He quickly got back in his kayak.

Look at the turtle on the log in front of their kayak.

Sam rowing.

After kayaking, we went to Barton Springs Pool to swim.

In this photo below you can see me in the front left corner and I like what you see near the center of the photo:  our four oldest kids wandering out further together.

After Barton Springs, we went to one of my favorite places to eat lunch.  Shady Grove.  This place is yummy and has a super fun atmosphere.  Best veggie burgers and onion rings.  Look at Charity's face in this photo.  Ha!

My New Job

I don't have a photo for this post, but wanted to write anyhow.  I started my new ballet teaching job this week.  And I LOVE it!!!!!!  I have never had a job like this before.  My boss and co-worker are the sweetest, most complementary women.  I love and admire them on a personal and professional level.  Yet, I got about five emails from these ladies in which they praised me generously and told me how much they loved and me and my teaching.  It is unbelievable!  It makes my job feel so fulfilling to be so appreciated.  And the students...these girls are angelic.  I am not kidding.  They are perfectly behaved, sweet, respectful, kind, and they work hard.  They are good dancers too!  One of them especially gets me so excited.  That particular student is capable of having a career someday in ballet.  I love watching her dance!  They all give me hugs and tell me they love me as I leave each day.  I just am blown away.  This job is just too good to be true!

Our Guitar Teacher june 2015

Day to Day Stuff This Week

Andy had basketball camp this week at the High School.  He made a lot of friends and enjoyed it.  He was also invited to join a club team with his friends!

Celeste texted me this cute photo of Eden chilling in her bed.
Jonah and I started guitar lessons!  We have a great teacher and have our lessons as a mom and son duo.  It's a lot of fun.  Jonah worked hard to earn money for his guitar.  He got a neat electric acoustic.

Last night Steve and I had dinner at Hat Creek where my guitar teacher was performing.  His wife was with him and they were good!  We had fun.  There is free live music going on everywhere.  Especially on the weekends.  Last night there were free live music events going on in no less than 6 places all within a half mile of each other.  It's such a fun place to live.

Family Fitness and Bonding

I get up each morning and leave around 6:30 for a workout.  I usually bike, swim, or run.  I have been letting everyone know when I am going the night before and what I will be doing.  I say that if they want to come, set their alarms and meet me, ready to go in the morning.  Usually I have one or two people join me.  But this week the numbers grew.  One day I had about half the family with me.  It was a lot of fun.  We biked first, then ran.

Celeste is actually training for her first triathlon in a month!  So we are trying to help her get ready and stick to her training plan.

I feel as though our family has bonded a lot in the last month.  Moving was a lot of work and when we got here, we worked so hard together painting our house.  And now Steve works from home.  So we are together a lot more.  We have so much that we have been doing together and it has been really cool.  The kids have been a lot better behaved and getting a long a lot better too.  It has been a big and wonderful change.  I love it!

It is so pretty here too.  It is a great place to be active outside.  As long as it doesn't get too hot.  Which it isn't in the morning.

The other day Steve, Jonah and I went on a long bike ride.  I got these two photos of my boys.  Steve likes to be daring and ride up the concrete under this bridge and back down whenever we ride by it.

Jonah is great on his bike too.

Triathlon

I had my first race in Texas and it was a lot of fun.  There were around 900 participants and the energy was high.  It was at Lake Pflugerville.  The weather was not awesome.  It was warm and humid and there was rain during the bike portion of the race for me.  I am not a huge fan of swimming in open waters, but besides getting tangled up in weeds the first and last 1/4 of the race, it went ok.  It was one of my faster swim times.  One of my faster bike times too!  The run time was pretty typical for me for my triathlons.  This was my 2nd triathlon this year, and my 5th triathlon ever.

Cessie was there cheering me on and taking photos.  She really wants to do a triathlon and I have been going swimming with her and helping her get her technique down lately.  She has been running frequently too since we moved here.  She just needs to get a bike.  I thought her coming to this race would be good for her to see.

Eden turns 14

Yesterday was Eden's birthday.  She has gotten in the habit of sleeping in pretty late this Summer.  Even on her birthday.  So I was texting her to wake her up.

When she was awake, I went in and we hung out on her bed to chat.

She had a mommy date to celebrate her birthday.  We went to lunch at Cheesecake Factory in Austin.

The waitstaff sang to her.

Afterwards we went shopping at a mall she picked out in Austin.  She really wanted to buy some new clothes.  So we shopped for a couple of hours.  She is quite the shopper.  I was pooped after the first half hour.  We had a good time though and she found a few outfits.
We also had a Jamba Juice and then picked up her dinner choice on the way home.  Papa Murphy's Pizza.
Eden is such a joy and we love having her in our family.
