Hana's 10th Birthday
I am not so good about getting photos sometimes! This is all I got from Hana's birthday.
She had a mom date with me. We went shopping and she bought a lot of fun things. We went out to eat lunch at Chipotle. Then we went to the movies to see Minions.
At night we were supposed to have a pool party at the Matson's pool, but the weather did not cooperate. So we just hung out in the house and ate dinner and dessert.

First Day of School
Today was the first day of school! It was so exciting for all of us! The kid's new schools seem pretty great. Charity and Hana are at the elementary together. Charity is repeating Kindergarten. Hana is in 4th grade.
Andy and Becca are in 7th grade at the middle school. This is Andy with his best friend Ryden. We love Ryden and his family! Awesome people!
And Eden, Cessie, and Jonah are at the High School together. Eden in 9th, Jonah in 10th and Cessie in 11th grade.
Amanda's birthday
My birthday was really great. Eden brought in this nice menu she made for breakfast. I was so impressed and touched by this.
After breakfast, Steve took me to the river and we did a mini-hike. It was so pretty.
In the evening we went to downtown Austin and had dinner and walked around. I liked this street sign. It says "Active Musician Loading." Only in Austin.
We also went to a really funny comedy show. It was such a nice birthday for me.
Stuff
The other night we went to Synagogue with our dear friends the Claymans. They are Jewish and invited us to attend with us. We went to Friday night service which is about welcoming in the Sabbath. (Their Sabbath is from Friday at sundown until Saturday evening.) It was super interesting and we really enjoyed it. Most of the service was singing Psalms in Hebrew!
On the way home Eden took this creepy selfie in the car.
I took this photo on my run the other day. I just loved the view.

Charity's 6th Birthday
Charity had a fun birthday. She and I went shopping and she got a lot of fun things for herself.
We had McDonalds for dinner for her birthday because that is what she really wanted. For dessert she picked out doughnuts and ice cream. We also went swimming at our pool. She is such a joy to us and it was nice to celebrate her.
Home Gym
For my birthday Steve bought me a FitBit Surge. I have wanted this for a long time and I love it! It makes my health and fitness obsession so much easier to obsess about.
I also got our home gym all set up! It's super exciting because this has been something I have dreamed of doing for a long time. I hope that over time I can add things to it. Sunday, August 16, 2015
San Antonio
Not the best photos here. Oh well!
This is how Charity's jelly fish stings looked the day after. I didn't get a photo day of.
We went to the Alamo. Interesting place, but it was a bit too hot and crowded for our taste.
Jonah being a good big brother.
There's a cat that lives at the Alamo. It's tag simply says "Alamo Cat."
After the Alamo we took the Hop On Hop off bus tour around San Antonio. It's a pretty neat city. Just hot!
Then we ate at Fudruckers. Everyone liked it.

The Beach
We went to Port Aransas today. The water was so warm! Everyone wanted to swim and I had to keep trying to get kids to stay in more shallow waters. I was so nervous about sharks!
We all had so much fun! The weather was great too.
This photo below is so funny to me. Jonah was playing dead and we were not even paying attention.
Kite flying.
Making sand castles.
My favorite ballet pose. 1st arabesque.
Burying people.
And then it all came crashing down...Charity was in the water and suddenly started screaming. We ran and got her. She had jelly fish tentacles around her arms and legs. I got them wrapped around my arms getting them off of her. She screamed and screamed while we tried to figured out what to do quickly. Some bystanders offered us some bottled water and suggested peeing on it. So Jonah peed in a cup and we poured it on her. Yuck! Turns out, tonight we've been reading and pee doesn't really help! Anyhow, another nice person gave us a bottle of hydrocortisone cream which seemed to help a bit. We hurried and left and drove to a pharmacy.
I ran in and asked what to do. The pharmacist gave me a bottle of vinegar and I grabbed some baking soda too. Then Charity and I got rubbed down in a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. It helped. But the pain didn't go all the way away for several hours. We both got sick too. I felt nauseated and had a headache and Charity had a tummy ache. We went back to the hotel and swam and felt much better after that. Charity was miserable! Her stings were much much more extensive than mine. It was kind of a scary experience.
