On our third day we took a Boston Harbor Cruise ferry out to Georges Island. This is a National and State Park and site of Fort Warren, a Civil War Fort.
Really such a cool place with lots to explore. You need hours to really see it all.
This is a national park because if I remember the tour guide correctly, it is the tallest sunken drumlin from the continent?

I tried to fact check online and only found this:
“Drumlins may occur as scattered single hills, or in so-called "swarms." The Boston Harbor Islands are a geological rarity, part of the only drumlin swarm in the United States that intersects a coastline. This "drowned" cluster of about 30 of more than 200 drumlins in the Boston Basin are not all elongate in shape, as most other drumlins are (molded in the direction of glacial flow). Geologists believe the islands illustrate two separate periods of glacial action. Many of the islands have more than one drumlin.“
Here we learned about the source of the terms of speech “Loophole” and “Last ditch effort”. Which put an eerie new feeling to those phrases for me. Parts of this island were kind of spooky altogether. But a really cool place!
It was a gorgeous day!
Downtown was hopping with all kinds of activities. We had lunch at a restaurant floating off the pier, that was delicious!
We happened on a parade!
And we made it to Boston Celtics last home preseason game. They played the Cavaliers and killed them.
Steve loved it!!!
We ate at some very yummy restaurants. Boston has so many great ones!
