Andy ended up finishing high school at the end of May. A year early! He was a Junior at Stony Point when Covid lockdown happened. He did their online school for a few weeks and really did not like it. It was not really working well for him. He had been in the special ed department due to his learning disabilities, and it was not translating well to online.
We decided to let him do Penn Foster's online high school program. They took his current transcript into account and he was actually only needing I think 8.5 credits left to graduate. They also allow you to go at your own pace. The program was designed to be online, so it was something he was able to follow well and understand and study with. He took a lot of great notes, spent most of his days working on it, and enjoyed what he learned. It was actually really cool to see him get excited about his education. And he said he learned a lot more in those classes than he had done in high school previously up to that point. So we were happy that he was enjoying learning finally! Academics have never been something that he has enjoyed doing until this experience. It only took him 3 weeks before he finished! We're still waiting on the diploma in the mail. They are supposed to be doing a virtual graduation in September I think. But we are all very happy and proud and excited for him to be graduated!
