I enrolled him at Grace Episcopal Preschool. I did that because they were close to home, had a great program, and were low cost. They follow a pretty normal academic curriculum. But they do incoorporate teaching the children the "Fruits of the Spirit," which are: patience, self-control, goodness, joy, kindness, love, gentleness, faithfulness and peace.
At this meet the teacher night, they also did a "Blessing of the backpacks." This was really interesting and entertaining. There was a priest dressed from head to toe in priestly robes. Well, actually, he had tennis shoes on, which looked kind of funny with the robes. Anyhow, he read a special prayer from a book. Then he had the children gather in front of him with their backpacks on. Then he "blessed" them. He said some nice things while hurling water at them with a metal wand ball thingy. The funniest part of this was the expression on the kid's faces. Ranging from excitment, fear, bewilderment and also a look that screamed "what the...?!" I loved it and wanted so badly to have the entire thing on video.
